Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
This is a type of Medicare Advantage Plan where you will pay less for using the physicians, medical facilities, and other health care professionals that belong to the plan’s network. Although you are able to use providers outside the PPO network, it will likely cost extra. You do not need to choose a primary care doctor in PPO Plans. Unlike a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), though, you usually don’t need a referral if you wish to see a preferred specialist.
Harry decided to go with a Preferred Provider Organization Plan because the health plan he liked also had his preferred doctor in network.
