Monthly Plan Premium

Monthly plan premium explainedThis is a payment made each month to a health insurance company for your health plan. Medicare Part A premiums are not always required, as sometimes people have a “premium-free Part A” insurance plan. If you paid Medicare taxes for 30-39 quarters, the standard Medicare Part A premium is $227 in 2017. The standard Medicare Part B premium in 2017 is $134, but could be higher depending on your income. If you receive Social Security benefits you will probably pay less than this amount. The Medicare Part C premium varies by plan. The Part D premium also varies by plan, and consumers with a higher income may pay more.
