Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period

Medicare disenroll periodIf you are already in a Medicare Advantage Plan and wish to disenroll and switch to Medicare Parts A and B, you may do so between Jan. 1st and Feb. 14th. Once you disenroll, you can also join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to add coverage for prescription drugs. The deadline for this is also Feb. 14th and your coverage will begin on the first day of the month after the plan gets your enrollment form. During this period you cannot however, switch between Medicare Advantage Plans or switch from Medicare Parts A and B to a Medicare Advantage Plan. You also cannot make changes to a Medicare Medical Savings Account Plan.

Margaret decided to leave her Medicare Part C plan, so she cancelled on Jan. 30 before the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period ended.
