Initial Coverage Limit (ICL)

This is a preset dollar limit set by your prescription drug plan. You can reach the ICL once you have paid your deductible and you and your plan have also paid for prescription drugs. Once you reach this stage, the amount you pay for prescription drugs may change as you enter the coverage gap.

It took the patient only five months to reach his ICL for the year since he was suffering from a serious condition that required him to spend money quickly on prescription drugs.
