There are some services that Medicare Parts A and B doesn’t cover, so they are excluded. Some of these items include dentures, acupuncture and routine foot care.
If you have certain pre-existing conditions a Medigap insurance company could make you wait for coverage. This coverage for a pre-existing condition can be excluded if the condition was treated or diagnosed within six months before the coverage starts under the Medigap policy. The Medigap policy will cover the excluded condition after this six month period. If you’re getting Medicare-covered services, Medicare Parts A and B will still cover the condition, even if the Medigap policy won’t cover your out-of-pocket costs. Though, you will still need to pay the coinsurance or co-payment. Make sure you understand your Guaranteed Issue Rights when it comes to Medigap exclusions.
